Last day in Georgia

Well, this is it.  It’s now 7:45 on the morning of my last day here.  I have nothing left to do but hang around for a few hours, pack up my computer and head out.  The manager we are working for is taking everyone out to lunch but I think I’ll skip that… never mind, I just came back from a cigarette break and was advised by a friend/co-worker that I should probably show up at the lunch to be “politically correct”, especially if I want to be on the list to return the next time… I don’t really want to go since I have an 8-hour drive, towing the bike back south and wanted as early a start as possible but I suppose I should, since I want to come back whenever the opportunity arises.

Some friends threw a little impromptu going away party for me on Wednesday.  Not a big deal, just pizza and drinks at the Legion Post in Smyrna for a couple hours.  It made me think of all the nice folks I’ve met and how much I have enjoyed my time while here.  This has definitely been one of my better assignments.  Between the people at the Legion, others I’ve met at Doc’s Food and Spirits and my co-workers it has been a most interesting time…  As usual in this job though, just as you begin to develop some friendships, it’s time to move on and that is beginning to get old.  I really like my job, well most of the time anyway, but the constant travel is tiring… until I sit at home for a while then boredom sets in and I’m ready to go again.  It’s a vicious cycle but I guess I just have to maintain until I hit the lotto or something.
