Georgia bound, again...

Yep that’s right… Heading back to Georgia.  I’m spending my last couple hours here in good old Enterprise, MS.  The job is wrapping up as I type this, the truck is packed up and I’m heading back to Atlanta to finish the report with some other FE’s that have been involved.

After spending the weekend in Atlanta I’ll be heading to Augusta, GA to do another similar job there.  I guess they liked what I did here and want to keep me around for a while longer…  That’s OK with me until the end of June but I’m taking July off.

Meridian is a nice town but kind of quiet with not much to do.  There is a river nearby called the Chunky River.  Not sure I’d like to go into a river by that name… From what I can see of it, as I drive over the bridge on the way to Enterprise and back it’s kinda small but apparently there is some notoriety with it but I’m not sure exactly what except it has to do with the Civil War.  All I know is the Harley Davidson dealership goes by that name and has some strange custom T shirts.  Maybe I’ll look it up some day when I’m bored…

Florida, Short & Sweet

My time in Florida was short.  One week of riding, visiting with friends, cooking wings at the Legion, spending time with Stacey then, off to Mississippi for a new, exciting work assignment…

When I got back to FL on Friday evening, unloaded the bike and a few essentials from the truck and headed into the house to take it easy.  Stacey showed up just as I got in and we decided to head out for a couple cocktails and ended up getting to sleep at about 4:30AM.  I had found out that the people we were riding to Leesburg with on Saturday weren’t going to make it so we didn’t have to get up to early, fortunately…

We hooked up with some other friends and went to Leesburg for the afternoon on Saturday.  Good bands, lots to drink (32 oz Rum Runners and Margaritas were the bomb), loads of vendors and a major crowd.  I don’t know the number but there were people everywhere.  Way to crowded for me, especially since being spoiled by the recent rally in GA that was so nice…

Tuesday I stepped in to cook wings all day at the Legion.  When I started doing it last year, I was by myself, doing it all.  Since it has become a big hit, there are two or three volunteers in the kitchen and it’s all organized now…  It’s a good way for us to raise money and everyone loves our wings…

Thursday I rode to Tampa to meet with my manager and thought briefly he was going to send me to Controls classes in NY but got a call on Friday that the class was filled with international TA’s and he had a job for me in Mississippi.  Seems that a Canadian company wants to purchase a couple 7E GT’s from a non-running site here in Enterprise, MS and hired GE to come in and evaluate the plants condition… I should be here for about two weeks.
